While this is a little different to my previous articles its one I feel that I struggled a lot to find answers on.

While working in an office I found my self drinking 2 cans of coke a day and through lockdown I started putting weight on.

While exercise is very important and I think that would be outside the scope of this piece but cant not include it. I started kickboxing around 3.5 months ago I wasn’t fit, had no stamina, was heaviest I had been at 85 kg, would breath heavily walking up stairs sometimes, had never been in a gym to exercise. After a month I was really enjoying the exercise but didn’t change diet at all at times it got worse to feed the energy I needed.

A lot of lists you will read online that share a healthy alternative to coke is water.

Water is a healthy alternative to coke

Just in case you were not aware that water is healthier than coke.

I hate those lists. I am well aware how healthy water is. My goal was to find a fizzy drink that was better for me than coke online research was not that much help as a lot of them were drink water or natural juices. So I set out to try and find some myself.

The sugar goal

A single can of coke contains around 38 grams of sugar.

38 grams of sugar is a lot its closely equivalent to eating a few teaspoons of sugar at once. So relatively simple task find a fizzy drink with less sugar than coke that doesn’t taste awful and isn’t full of questionable chemicals.

My current favourite is

Green Cola

Green cola is a coke substitute that taste pretty similar is super fizzy and has 0 added sugar. It is sweetened with stevia which some people don’t approve of but I believe its a lot better than the other options as they same themselves

Unmatched taste, no calories, no sugar, natural caffeine from green coffee beans and naturally sweetened with stevia!

The check list

It’s fizzy? It is definitely fizzy so CHECK

Its Low sugar? 0 sugar but sweetened by stevia for me its still a CHECK

Taste? I really like it and they have other flavours like a lemonade which is also refreshing.

You can check them out here https://greencola.com/

Vit-Hit

Have introduced a Low Calorie Sparkling drink line. I have tried the

Sparkling Raspberry Watermelon With Ceylon Tea

It’s nice I wouldn’t always pick it but it hits all the major targets.

Its fizzy. CHECK

Its low sugar at around 5 grams per can. CHECK

Taste. Its better than others I have tried and would drink again. CHECK

Looking for more healthy energy to get you through the day or workout.

Checkout NOCCO - No Carbs Company

They are a high energy low sugar low chemical drink manufacturer.

Enriched with BCAA and caffeine. Every workouts best friends. The flavour I have in front of me is

Caribbean (Pineapple and Grapefruit Flavour)

Any day I am heading to the gym which is now almost every day I will drink one about half an hour to 40 minutes before so it has time to settle. I find it really helps give me the boost required to work harder.

It’s fizzy? CHECK

Low Sugar? 0 sugar but sweetened with stevia. CHECK

Taste? It does have a like citrus-y acidic taste which I like so CHECK

You can check them out here https://nocco.com/

I will continue to update this list as I try new options and find new alternatives.
